I know, I know. It's been forever since I wrote. I have been busy this last year and for some reason havn't gotten around to blogging. I hope that now I can continue to write and get it together again with the most entertaining stories. Later, I'm thinking about adding fashion and beauty information and eventually step by step videos (So keep on the look out!). To my readers: I don't promise I'll write everyday, but I will strive for once a week. Can't wait!

MAC Being Distasteful
MAC Cosmetics is supposed to release a new collection called the Rodarte Collection. Oh, how exciting!!! Maybe not so much this time. The controversial names given to each item in the collection has caused a great wrath in the beauty and women community. So what's the big stur? Because MAC decided to gather inspiration from the Mexican culture, the names have distastefully represented a part of Mexico, in which women unfortunately are being mistreated.(image courtesy of vexinthecity.com)Picture to the left shows the collection.
MAC named two of their nail polishes in the collection, Juarez (a pink frost) and Factory (a mint frost). So, who cares? Well, many people. Why, you might ask? Juarez is an impoverished Mexican factory town notorious for the number of women between the ages of 12 and 22 who have been raped and murdered with little or no response from police. Most of the young women are employees at the border town’s factories, called maquiladoras, and disappeared on the way to or from work. Activists have been applying constant pressure on Mexican police, who have shown little response to properly investigating the murders, allegedly because the victims are poor women (frisky.com). Many activists, including Jennifer Lopez, have been working towards awareness for the women and Juarez, but nothing seems to be getting done. Why would MAC and Rodarte name their items after the persecution that is occuring to these women? A statement was released with MAC's apology, stating that they would change the names and make a donation to the cause, but truly why would anyone want to buy a collection that was firstly supporting the exploitation of women? Whats next eyeshadow in "Nazi" and lipstick in "Anti-Semetism?"
If you want to make a difference please sign the following petition against the Rodarte MAC Makeup Collection and the City of Juarez: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/macrodarte/
Want more information on the City of Juarez, visit: http://www.amnesty.org/
Dear Rodarte & Mac,
Although, you might have not intentionally named the products with names referring to the City of Juarez- next time do some research. Many women love your products, but when it starts being more about the money and less about the community, your sales will go down the drain. So, please- Get it together.

Linda

Inception: The Movie To See
So, I went to see "Inception" today and it was nothing but satisfyingly awesome! If it isn't the mind blowing effects or the great acting, then it definitely will keep your mind in complete focus. From the first seconds of the movie to the very end, your attention span must be locked into place. The incredible synopsis was so massively creative that I was sucked into the movie, literally. I don't want to spoil the movie to those that have not seen the film, but whoever has not seen it- better. This is the movie to see and truly will get your brain working like never before. Dear Leonardo DiCaprio,
I love you.. haha..not like that, but you sold the story like no other! The film got me thinking so tremendously that it has me exploring things I never really paid attention to before. B.y the way, you're still hot. ;)
Sincerely,
Linda
**SPOILER ALERT-if you have not seen the film do not read this**
To people who HAVE seen the movie- question. At the end, when Leo's character finally sees his children and goes home, is he REALLY in reality or is he still in a dream? What do you think? Comment below!!

Bad Boy Justin Bieber
What? Has Justin forced his way into the dark side? Not so much. He's just playing a bad boy on TV. An upcoming episode on CSI (September 23 on CBS) will have an appearence from Justin Bieber as Jason McCann, a troubled teenage boy faced with a descision regarding his only brother. So don't worry ladies, he still remains as the "Baby" singer of the century. Don't forget to stay tuned on when this episode will be aired. (image courtesy of sodahead.com)
Dear Justin,
Although it might sound weird because I'm like six years older than you, but I love your songs and can't help myself but dance when I hear your hits on the radio.
P.S. my 3 year old brother thinks he is you.
Sincerely,
Linda

Diggy Simmons Crowned One of the Top Five Breakthrough MC's of 2010
So we all remember little Diggy Simmons, son of the honorable Rev. Run from DMC. It seems though that after the hit show "Run's House" on MTV, Diggy decided to follow in his father's footsteps and show he too can be a MC rapper. Now as a finalist on MTV's "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010" he can expand his fan base and show people what he's really made of. So will he win and take the crown? I guess we'll have to wait and see. (image courtesy of euroweb.com)
Dear Diggy,
Thanks for actually working hard to become a great MC and not just by using your father's name. We appreciate that you can hold your own ground and for that we show you our support.
Sincerely,
Linda
Amanda Bynes is Back in Business
After a month of retirement, Amanda Bynes tweeted today that she is no longer retired. Thankfully for us the 24 year old actress isn't going anywhere. Amanda Bynes will hit the screen this fall in the comedy, "Easy A," co-starring Emma Stone on September 17.

We're glad you decided to un-retire. We love your movies and can't wait till you hit the screen again.

Anorexia: The Cruel Disease That Will Take Over Anyone's Life
Ever since we can begin to imagine, Anorexia has been around for a very long time. This disease that confuses, those who are under its influence to believe, that they are something they aren't is finally beginning to display the (pic courtesy of inside edition)horror it has always been engaged in. Just yesterday, Jeremy Gillitzer (38) lost the battle to anorexia and died, weighing only 66 pounds. No one can explain this ex-male model's behaivor, but it is said that one day he just shut himself off from the world, secluded himself "from his family and starved himself to death." The effects of Anorexia are no longer in just female individuals. Sometimes people may criticize those who starve themselves instead of figuring out a way to help the individual in need. Jeremy Gillitzer is one of many people who have died of Anorexia. May peace be with them.
Dear World,
If we all stopped judging eachother and just accepted each individual for who they were the world would be a better place. Who cares if we are different. Difference is what makes us special, difference is what can change the world.
Sincerely,
Linda
